i tried sniping some fire crows at the start of the mustache gauntlet and after some fails, i nailed one straight in its face, only to see that the beam went straight through without hitting. despite what the screen shows, you cant hit enemies if they are too far away. so unless you are duking it out with an enemy on a flat arena, chances are your shots wont hit. being a platformer for the most part, theres a lot of uneven ground in the game and flat areas of decent size is more or less kinda rare in comparison. You can only shoot enemies that have the same elevation as you. im probably doing something wrong but every time i take aim its practically a gamble. when i shoot laser beams, it never seems to line up with where im facing and it feels impossible to land accurate shots because you cant adapt to the offset of the previous shot since it just changes all the time. whenever i dive after jumping, i always shoot towards wherever im facing. many times when aiming at a stationary target, i still struggle to land hits because for whatever reason, it seems like the laser has a random angle deviation from where you are facing. this makes shooting enemies fairly difficult because once you have a shot lined up and the target suddenly moves, its likely you will end up missing and you cant do anything about it but to take a second shot.Īiming itself is fairly awkward. You cant move while using the laser, and its quite literal. despite what it may seem like, the drawbacks of using the laser (in my opinion) really questions on the practicality and perhaps even existence of the beam badge. For those who dont know, the beam badge (or whatever its called) allows you to hold the attack button to initiate a chargeable laser beam attack from your umbrella or bat.
